While clearing out my wallet, in between all the receipts, the credit cards, the loose paper fragments, the concert tickets, the lousy amount of coins and the gift vouchers, I found a folded paper.
It fitted perfectly in the transparent photo pocket. Hidden behind two bus tickets and folded trice. On one side, lab observations had been noted down: “power= 800W, 12,603 g = beginning, 0,666 g = end”
Looking crumpled and worn out, it reminded of an old, forgotten document. It wad covered by random shades of grey pencil marks, in some places, even doodled on. I unfolded it.
To my astonishment, it was a photograph. A shot of people. People I didn’t know. People I didn’t have a connection to. Just six people.
Or… That was a lie. I did know who these people were. At least I thought I knew them. I was sure I knew one. That one person did great things I won’t mention. Hopefully that someone still remembers.
I suddenly realized that something had to be done. Expunge without an eraser, forget without shredding a tear. And so I did.
The whole point of this prose is to say what happened next. I simply got rid of the paper as it says in the title. It is no longer in my wallet. I can no longer see or touch it. I hope I saved those lab notes somewhere, because now, it is all gone. Someone needs to carry on..
